Virgin birth, sinless life, atoning death, triumphant resurrection, Second Coming & eternal kingdom reign.

Virgin birth

Matthew 1:18 through Matthew 1:25 (NLT)
18Now this is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant by the Holy Spirit. 19Joseph, her fiancé, being a just man, decided to break the engagement quietly, so as not to disgrace her publicly.

20As he considered this, he fell asleep, and an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to go ahead with your marriage to Mary. For the child within her has been conceived by the Holy Spirit. 21And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22All of this happened to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet:

23 “Look! The virgin will conceive a child!

She will give birth to a son,

and he will be called Immanuel

(meaning, God is with us).”

24When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord commanded. He brought Mary home to be his wife, 25but she remained a virgin until her son was born. And Joseph named him Jesus.

Jesus was born both divine and human. These two natures were inseparably united in one person. By His incarnation He was made flesh and revealed Himself as Immanuel – God with us.

Sinless life

Jesus was made in the likeness of man and in all points was tempted as we are yet He was without sin.

Hebrews 4:15 (NLT)
15This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same temptations we do, yet he did not sin.

Atoning death

Jesus was sinless, so He didn’t have to be punished for sin, but He chose to die on our behalf according to the will of the Father.

1 John 2:2 (NLT)
2He is the sacrifice for our sins. He takes away not only our sins but the sins of all the world.

The blood of Jesus assures us of forgiveness of sin.

1 John 1:7 (NLT)
7But if we are living in the light of God’s presence, just as Christ is, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from every sin.

Triumphant resurrection

Jesus actually did rise from the dead. The resurrection actually happened.

Matthew 28:6 (NLT)
6He isn’t here! He has been raised from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying.

His resurrection was triumphant.

His ascension

Forty days after His resurrection Christ ascended to heaven in the sight of a company of people.

Acts 1:3 (NLT)
3During the forty days after his crucifixion, he appeared to the apostles from time to time and proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. On these occasions he talked to them about the Kingdom of God.

Acts 1:9 through Acts 1:11 (NLT)
9It was not long after he said this that he was taken up into the sky while they were watching, and he disappeared into a cloud. 10As they were straining their eyes to see him, two white-robed men suddenly stood there among them. 11They said, “Men of Galilee, why are you standing here staring at the sky? Jesus has been taken away from you into heaven. And someday, just as you saw him go, he will return!”

He is seated at the right hand of the Father interceding for us.

His second coming

The second coming of Jesus has been foretold by Jesus, His apostles and angels.

John 14:3 (NLT)
3When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 (NLT)
16For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the call of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, all the Christians who have died will rise from their graves.

Acts 1:11 (NLT)
11They said, “Men of Galilee, why are you standing here staring at the sky? Jesus has been taken away from you into heaven. And someday, just as you saw him go, he will return!”
